I wanted to recommend an amazing book on Songwriting that was suggested to me by one of my students. It's called "The Tunesmith"  By Jimmy Webb.

   JImmy webb is one of the great songwriters of our time. His thoughts on chordal structure and words are incredibly helpful and insightful. He is definately one of my  favorite composers and you can really expand your palate of colors reading this book.
