A Continued struggle for Artist’s rights: writer Ian Pai of Blue Man Group sues for unfair royalty collection

July 29th, 2016

In Another Blow for Artists’ Rights, Blue Man Group was sued for $150 million by Ian Pai.  Ian was the composer or  co-composer of  most of the show’s signature pieces, the artistic and musical collaborator of the original shows  in New York, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, the Music Director of many of the shows, and a full-time performer for more than a decade  and a collaborator and  sometime perform or for many years thereafter.  The suit, brought by his lawyer Robert Piliero, claims that Ian only recently discovered they have been cheating him of royalties for more than 20 years.  A recent article in The New York Times about the case can be found at http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/07/23/theater/blue-man-group-is-sued-in-royalties-case.html?referer=https://www.google.com/
